Part 1: Building Confidence, Learning Team Personality, and Meditation

#15 Tip | Building Confidence

“A great way to create trust with your team is by constantly instilling trust in them. Your athletes may not be the best at a certain skill but harping on those weaknesses will not help them grow or propel them to the next level. Positive feedback can go a long way; even small positive reinforcement can propel not only the athlete but the whole team and you will begin to see effects from teammate to teammate” – Juliann Faucette Johnson, BSN SPORTS Volleyball Brand Ambassador

#86 Tip | Learning Team Personalities

“As coaches, it is important to adjust our philosophies to your team’s personality. As a team captain, I used to try and learn each teammates personality and what exactly made them tick. This is the same approach as a coach; how can I pull the best out of my team. I believe that it looks different for each player. There are many different personalities we must deal with as coaches and one of the best ways to maximize the potential of your team is to learn each one of them. If you can figure out how to bring the best out of them, then you are off to a good start!” – Juliann Faucette Johnson, BSN SPORTS Volleyball Brand Ambassador

#19 Tip | Meditation

“During my time as a player I learned one of the things I was lacking was mental training. Once I started to hone-in on a skill my game elevated immensely. This was because I was able to focus more during practice and games. One tool my coaches used was meditation. We did this before each practice and game. This was a simple task, but it was so difficult cause our minds tend to run constantly, however the benefits were great; more focus which made us more effective. Try incorporating a five-minute meditation in your pre-practice ritual.” -Juliann Faucette Johnson, BSN SPORTS Volleyball Brand Ambassador
