“Remember this. Hold on to this. This is the only perfection there is, the perfection of helping others. This is the only thing we can do that has any lasting meaning. This is why we’re here.” – Andre Agassi
This quote has recently been brought to life by two BSN SPORTS sales professionals in the Southern California area. They went out of their way to truly perfect the act of helping others!
Micky Penaflor, who will soon be celebrating 10 years as a BSN SPORTS veteran, and Darren Nelson, who is coming up on his one-year anniversary, both dedicated their own personal time on evenings and weekends to help a local little league solve a fairly large problem.
Back in November of 2016, someone apparently set fire to the scorekeeping and storage booth at a league field in Wardlow Park. This arson fire (which had a damage estimate of $25,000) also burned the fence and netting of the field that the Huntington Valley Little League, just so happened to practice and play on! This unexpected and saddening event had a strong effect on the community, who had been planning to improve this field.
When these BSN SPORTS sales professionals heard what happened, they decided to put their own priorities on hold, so they could serve their local community and get these little leaguers back on the field!
Just 3 months later, we at BSN SPORTS, are happy to announce that Micky and Darren have helped complete the restoration of this local field! As Huntington Valley Little League President, Tim Stone, said: “We just want to create a loving, safe environment for them to come and play baseball.”
Micky and Darren’s Manager, DJ Harrison, noted that these guys would have “done this in a heartbeat for anybody, because that’s the kind of people they are.”
At BSN SPORTS, we have strong corporate values that Darren and Micky embodied by doing the right thing. BSN SPORTS is proud that they acted with thoughtfulness and integrity.
With that said, we want to wish the Huntington Valley Little League good luck, as they head into their spring season! Play ball!
